Performance

1.5L engine

Spirited response meets high fuel efficiency in a compact petrol engine producing impressive torque. Performance is smooth with minimal noise and vibration for a pleasant drive.

Aerodynamics

Superior aerodynamic performance in the Baleno achieved by making full use of CAE and wind tunnel tests and optimising the shape of each part results in high fuel efficiency and a quiet ride.

Transmission

Both 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual transmission are optimised for the best balance of performance and fuel efficiency. A straight type shift pattern is adopted for the automatic transmission for simple and easy operation while the manual transmission features light, smooth and precise gear shifting with the convergent locating system.

Light and rigid HEARTECT platform

The HEARTECT platform enhances your driving experience. Light and highly rigid, it lowers fuel consumption and vastly improves the fundamental vehicle performance in terms of running, turning and stopping. Its frame is characterised by smooth and continuous curves, which efficiently disperses impact energy in case of a collision.

Safety

ESP®

If Electronic Stability Programme (ESP®) detects wheel slippage when the driver turns the steering wheel sharply and/or the road is slippery, for example, it automatically adjusts the engine torque and brakes to suppress the wheel slippage and help the driver stay in directional control.

Pedestrian injury mitigating body

The structure of the Baleno’s bonnet, front windscreen wiper area, front bumper and other parts absorb impacts, with the aim of mitigating head and leg injuries in the event of a collision with a pedestrian.

Hill hold Control

Hill hold control is designed to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards during standing starts on slopes. The system engage the brakes up to two seconds after the driver removes pressure from the brake pedal to depress the accelerator.

Airbags

The six airbags – dual front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags help protect the driver and passenger in the event of a collision.

Rear parking sensors

Ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers detect obstacles and issues audio-visual warning to the driver.
