Grand Vitara

A winning look of purpose and performance on the outside

The Grand Vitara has the look of an athletic champion: A muscular, well-proportioned body born strictly of purpose. A short front overhang and large-diameter tyres project sporty aggression, while flared fenders and wide treads contribute to a look of sure stability.

A timeless expression of sporty aggression on the inside

Stepping inside, the occupants are immediately immersed in a world that is pure Suzuki. Artful touches of silver rise up from a predominantly black interior, and daring designs blend with classic forms in the highly acclaimed interior. Most surfaces are contoured, and most edges rounded. Not only pleasing to the eye and touch, the design reduces minor injury potential when off-roading.

Reassuring ride and sporty performance (European spec)

The Grand Vitara is the third model in the series, but the basic concept has remained the same since the debut of the first model in 1988. This concept can be encapsulated in the phrase: “Bringing higher performance to the urban cross-country vehicle”. At the same time, the production team’s unifying goal throughout was to produce a vehicle that would take Suzuki’s reputation for excellent four-mode 4X4 drivability to new heights.
Under a product development concept of “off-road athlete” in the same way athletes rigorously train to excel in a wide range of demanding situations. The goal was straightforward: Improve on the real all-road mastery, efficient performance, practical urbanity, and the ease of use people have come to associate with the Grand Vitara series. Suzuki’s heritage of producing sporty 4X4 vehicles with real off-road capabilities provided the DNA; advanced automotive engineering, the breeding.

Civilised performance on-road, sure-footed traction off

The Grand Vitara’s 4-mode 4×4 system transmits power to all four wheels at all times, ensuring positive traction regardless of road surface. A switch built into the centre console lets you quickly and easily change modes between 4H for most driving conditions, 4H Lock for serious off-roading, 4L Lock for extreme surface conditions, and N (neutral) mode, specifically intended for motor home owners wishing to take along an SUV on camping trips to use as a runabout. Switching to N-mode frees the transmission for safe and effortless towing of the Grand Vitara.

Inspiring all-road confidence, all-road safety

Preventative safety features begin with ESP®* (Electronic Stability Program). ESP®* supplements the Grand Vitara’s directional stability with three major functions: anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), traction control, and stability control. The stability control function induces yaw by braking the appropriate wheel in the event of over-steer or under-steer. The engine output may be governed if there is pronounced under-steer.
In an unlikely event of a collision, the body structure helps direct impact energy away from the highly reinforced cabin. The pedal is designed to minimise protrusion into the foot well, and an energy-absorbing trim is standard in all models.
Other standard and optional safety features include: SRS dual front airbags and front 3-point ELR (emergency locking retractor) seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters, SRS side and SRS curtain airbags, 3-point ELR rear seat belts, ISOFIX-compliant child seat anchorages, and a high-mount stop lamp.
